A universal, sticky patch that can be used for any leak. This patch is made up of the fibers from the slime secreted from the glands of a hagfish. When it is exposed to water, the fibers on the patch will react with the water to create a sticky jelly like substance stronger than nylon and as a result will plug the leak. This patch will have many applications that will be beneficial for household leaks. The slime itself is made up of intermediate filaments and a protein called mucin. Threads of the protein are 12 nanometers thick and are in bundles that create the slime texture. Unlike regular patches where the water flow can erode the edges of the leak, the hagfish slime would expand to completely fill in the width of the pipe and prevent erosion.
